Syphilis
Syphilis is a sexually communicable disease that is induced by bacterium named Treponema pallidum. It is divided into primary, secondary, latent, tertiary and late syphilis. The disease is basically asymptomatic and should be taken care of at an early stage. If avoided, it could lead to ruining of the body tissues and internal organs, which ultimately causes death. The red signal is that it increases the chances of acquiring HIV.
Symptoms of Syphilis could be anywhere between sores to vaginal ulcer or penis ulcers. The correct identification of the ailment could be done only by a medical practitioner. So, how does a doctor identify the disease? It could be done using swab/scraping test or blood test for Syphilis or simply a microscopic could detect the syphilis bacteria. Based on this, the stage of Syphilis is identified to begin the treatment.
Once the disease has been diagnosed, immediate medical consultation is required. Penicillin and other antibiotics are effectively used for the treatment of this disease. Consecutive testing of blood is required to check the illness. In case of allergy to penicillin, the patient can opt for tetracycline on doctor’s advice.
The only precautions that could be taken to prevent Syphilis are to have safe sex and usage of condoms.
